SHOULD IT EVER GO DARK

Should it ever go dark,
Hark back to the days of yore
And you’d know that fate was right—
We were meant to be.

Should it ever go dark,
Remember, we were strayed hearts
In search of heaven,
And we found us.

Should it ever go dark,
Remember, I made the right choice
To be with you—head high,
Holding you nigh never to let go.

Should it ever go dark,
Remember, home is empty
When your absence is the only presence
You can give—that’s achy.

Should it ever go dark, remember,
you unmasked every echo of lust in my eyes
And taught me how to love.

Should it ever go dark,
Remember all these.
We are peace.
Don’t leave ‘us’ for a mirage.
